Man Charged with Attempted Murder Following Early-Morning Attack in South Brisbane

A 25-year-old man from Camira has been charged with attempted murder following a violent incident in South Brisbane early last Saturday morning.

Police allege that at around 5:15am on 13 September, the man broke into a Mollison Street home and stabbed a 27-year-old West End man in the torso while he slept. It is further alleged that the offender attempted to pour petrol on the victim before being interrupted by another occupant, prompting him to flee on foot.

Emergency services arrived at the scene shortly after 5:20am and found the West End man with serious injuries. He was transported to hospital and remains in a serious but stable condition.

Investigations by the Dutton Park Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) quickly led to the arrest of the Camira man near a Morayfield shopping centre at 9:30am on 15 September. Police say the men were known to each other.

The 25-year-old has been charged with attempted murder and entering a dwelling with intent. He is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court today, 16 September.

Police continue to urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist ongoing investigations.
