Queensland police have charged a 45 year-old man following the death of a man in Manly West.
Around 1 am Sunday morning, a 44 year-old man sustained a number of stab wounds at a Manly West shopping center.
The man was declared dead upon arrival of police.
A 45 year-old man allegedly fled the scene on foot before grabbing an 18 year-old woman not known to him and attempted to sexually assault her around 2 am.
A member of the public intervened and called police who arrested the man at the scene.
The woman was transported to the Redlands Hospital.
The 45 year old man has been charged with one count of the following; murder, assault with intent to commit rape, indecent act in any place to which the public are permitted access and obstruct a police officer.
He is due to appear in Cleveland Magistrate Court today, Monday 29 September.
