Semi-Truck Fire Causes Delays on Ipswich Motorway

(Created: 2025-08-20 11:29:42)

A semi-truck has caught fire on the Ipswich Motorway eastbound at Redbank, just before the Mine Street exit, causing significant traffic delays for motorists heading toward Brisbane. Police, fire and ambulance are attending the scene, and emergency crews are working to manage the incident.

The truck’s trailer was disconnected to prevent the fire from spreading, but two lanes remain blocked while crews clear the area. The fire is under control as of 7:47 pm. Drivers are experiencing slow-moving traffic, with delays of more than an hour reported in the area. Authorities are urging motorists to plan alternate routes if possible and to proceed with caution.

No hazardous materials are involved, and the truck’s cargo has not been identified. A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman told DovaFM the fire originated in the truck’s brakes and was safely contained by attending crews.

This incident highlights the potential for serious delays on one of Brisbane’s major commuter routes, particularly during peak travel times. Motorists should expect ongoing slowdowns as emergency services work to fully reopen the motorway.
